About Thoughtfully Handmade

Since 2016, I’ve strived to provide uniquely handmade cards, bookmarks and gift tags to help people gift more thoughtfully and save them from awkward gift-giving situations. I chose to start my own business because I was (and still am) tired of the impersonal, mass-produced cards in the market today.

I love helping my customers spread positivity. It's another reason Thoughtfully Handmade exists! What better way to spread positivity than with cards? I want everyone to be more thoughtful and intentional with their gift-giving!

I choose to put hours of hard work and thought into every single card, bookmark and gift tag that I create. By buying one of my cards, not only are you supporting a small business and a crafter, but you are also helping Toronto Environmental Alliance. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to building a greener Toronto! I donate 10 cents from every item sold to them.

Thank you for supporting local and handmade!

Hi everyone! It's so nice to meet you all. My name is Yandy and I'm the owner of Thoughtfully Handmade! I'm also currently doing a double major in Criminology and Philosophy at the University of Toronto.

Besides running a business and being a student, I love bullet journaling, calligraphy and reading! I also love meeting all of you at the various markets I sell at, and connecting with you on social media!

If you're curious about how I manage everything, please sign up for my monthly newsletter, Yandy's Chronicles. Plus, you get to know what's happening behind the scenes before anyone else!

How Thoughtfully Handmade Began

Everything started in my grade 10 careers class.

My careers teacher had a partnership with Summer Company run through Ryerson University. It’s a summer-long entrepreneurship program funded by the Ontario government and run through various community organizations or post-secondary institutions.

We are given $1500 to start our business and $1500 at the end of the program. To enter the program, I had to fill out a business proposal and start my own business. So, during the summer of 2016, Thoughtfully Handmade was born!

Since I was young, I've always made DIY gifts for friends and family members because I didn't have money, and I wanted to create a gift that was personal to the recipient. That slowly evolved into making Christmas and birthday cards as I grew older. That's why I chose to start a card business to enter Summer Company.
