1. Party Supplies
What is a wedding reception without party supplies? Weddings can be so expensive, so help out the bride and groom by covering their decorations! I love these party supplies from Uncommon Party because of how unique they are. Co-owners Bahar and Celestina have curated decor that allows our personalities to shine!
Right now, they sell balloon banner kits, cake toppers, greeting cards, wine gift bags and bundle packs. Bahar and Celestina are lifelong best friends who noticed that typical party decorations were similar and bland. However, we all have a unique personality, and they believe our parties should reflect that. That’s why their wedding-related cake toppers are made from wood, so you can keep them as is or paint them with food-safe paint to match your colour scheme.
Another thing I love about Uncommon Party is that 75% of their products are made in Canada, and they have environmentally friendly packaging! Speaking of eco-friendly, their ballon banners are air-filled (not helium), so you can reuse them for other parties. All you have to do is deflate them and store them for the future!
2. Custom Cookies
Whether it be a sweet proposal, a cute way to ask your friends to be bridesmaids or a themed snack for the reception, Cookie Creations by Maggie has you covered! The owner, Maggie, creates decorated sugar cookies for all themes, holidays and occasions.
Every cookie is made from scratch using high-quality ingredients and decorated by hand, so they’re delicious and beautiful. Maggie started Cookie Creations by Maggie because she loves to bake and create! Combined with her love of design, decor and DIY, themed sugar cookies are right up her alley.
Since these are all custom designed and made to order, it will perfectly match your theme or occasion. Simple but elegant, these sugar cookies are the perfect gift to give as a wedding favour!
To order, just contact Maggie on her Facebook or Instagram page. She will then collaborate with you to ensure the design is exactly how you envisioned it! Since these custom orders require a lot of planning, time and detail, you must place your orders at least 3 weeks in advance of your event.
3. Gift Boxes
Gift boxes make for the perfect gift, especially for a wedding! Use it to congratulate the happy couple and fill it with items on their registry, or thank your bridal and groom party. Either way, Box by Bianca has you covered!
Bianca sources local, Canadian products for each item based on the theme of the box. She ensures that each piece is well-made by interacting with the artisans themselves beforehand. Box started because Bianca has always been crafty and love supporting local talent! She believes in the importance of investing in your community.
Bianca offers pre-made, curated themed boxes or custom themes that you can pick. She also has a subscription service, so the options are endless! Some of the curated themes include a local box, a Pride box, a camping box and a calm box. Each box also comes in various sizes, so you can choose a price that fits your budget! Bianca guarantees that the value of the items in the box will exceed the price by double or more.
Make someone’s wedding day even more special with a custom, unique gift curated just for them! To order, head to Bought It Local, a website that features handmade, Canadian brands in one place, or DM her on Instagram.
4. Handmade Rings
Thinking of proposing? Why not do it with a ring that’s beautiful and environmentally friendly? Erynn from Bobbi’s Jeweller makes handcrafted wedding bands and engagement rings from SCS certified, 100% recycled, ethically sourced gold and silver. All of her designs are developed, formed and created by Erynn. She sets every gemstone and creates all the settings, so every piece is unique and made with love.
Erynn is passionate about maintaining ethical standards in the jewellery industry, which is why she sources her precious metals from a refinery that’s certified green by SCS (Scientific Certification System). Bobbi’s Jeweller is also a proud supporter of One Tree Planted. So, for every purchase, one tree is planted!
Not only are her rings ethical, eco-friendly and sustainable, but they’re also minimal and rustic with a touch of sophistication. Bobbi’s Jeweller started because Erynn wanted to create meaningful jewellery that says, “I love you for the rest of my life!” She’s grateful to create pieces that symbolize a beautiful commitment of love and friendship between two people. Erynn has over 7 years of experience as a goldsmith, is a graduated Jeweller from the Canadian Jewellers Association and has a diploma from the Gemological Institute of America.
If one of her pre-made designs doesn’t work for you, you can create a custom design together! Erynn also offers repairs and a resize option after purchase. 5. Handmade Cards
Your friend just got engaged! Why not show them that you’re thinking about them? What if you just heard that a cousin of yours is getting married? You’re so excited for her and want to congratulate her, but you haven’t really kept in touch over the years. What do you do? Wish them congratulations by sending them a thoughtfully handmade card with a personal message inside.
Need to thank your bridal or groom party? A thank you card is the answer. You can also pair a handmade card with any gift that you get, so you can write a thoughtful message inside to make the gift even more special! Handmade by me, intended for you to give, all of my cards are meant to spread joy to whoever receives it.
I started Thoughtfully Handmade with a mission to help others spread positivity. Giving a handmade card is a small gesture that can bring a lot of happiness to people’s lives! When you give a handmade card, the hours of hard work that I put into every single one shows. The recipient is less likely to throw it away after receiving it because a handmade card will always have more sentimental value than a mass-produced one!
My cards are unique since no two are identical, and I only produce 6-8 cards for each design. By purchasing something from me, you’re also donating ten cents to Toronto Environmental Alliance. They are a non-profit organization that strives to build a greener Toronto. To purchase a card, you can click on a photo with the design you like or visit the “Shop” page on my website! Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter, Yandy’s Chronicles for fun behind the scenes content and to visit me on Instagram if you want to connect!
Understandably, this is a tough time right now. Whether you postpone your wedding or get married at City Hall and have the reception later, it’s still a special moment that deserves to be celebrated! All of the businesses featured today want you to have the best time possible. I’m curious, what have you given as a wedding gift?
