If you need a gift for a housewarming party, this blog post is perfect for you! I put together a gift guide featuring Canadian small businesses that have products perfect for new homeowners.
Today, I’m featuring Buzz Bubblez handmade soap, Foreversonflowersandmore’s home decor, Light & Shine Home and Gifts’ gift sets, Modish Mats’ doormats and Thoughtfully Handmade’s handmade congratulation cards!
1. Handmade Soap
Looking for a small but unique and memorable gift for a housewarming party? Congratulate the new homeowner(s) with some handmade soap by Buzz Bubblez. Christy, the owner, started making goat milk soap because of her curiosity for soap-making and wanting to spend more time with her mom.
I’m also inspired by Christy’s entrepreneurial spirit. As a young woman with autism and developmental delays and has cancerous tumours in her lungs, it would be difficult for Christy to be employed. So, she decided to hire herself by starting Buzz Bubblez and continue her soap-making journey.
All of her soaps are super moisturizing due to the goat milk. They smell amazing too, because of the essential oils, fragrance oils and dried flowers used in each batch. I love how Christy uses fun moulds to create unique shapes and seasonal scents for every occasion!
2. Home Decor
Every house needs some home decor. What better gift for a housewarming party than some new decorations?
Julia from Foreversonflowersandmore creates forever floral arrangements, wreaths, and wall decor to decorate any space. Most of her pieces are custom made so you can order something that your friend will love!
Julia started Foreversonflowersandmore after she lost her oldest son. To cope with the loss, she began to create these gorgeous decor pieces. Sunflowers were her son’s favourite, and he continues to inspire Julia every day.
If you love her creations as much as I do, send Julia a direct message on her Instagram to start your custom gift today! For her pre-made pieces, just order from Foreversonflowersandmore’s website or shop in-person at Markets by Dream Day.
While we have decorations for the inside of your friend’s new home, we must think about the outside too! In comes Alyssa from Modish Mats. She makes these doormats that are unique and cute.
Alyssa started Modish Mats to offer high-quality, locally-made mats for her community. All of her mats are made with coir, fibres from the outer husks of coconut shells, and outdoor acrylic paint. They’re also sprayed with a mould and mildew-resistant and protective UV sealer, so these mats are super durable!
I love how every mat is hand-painted, which means no two mats are exactly the same. You can also design a custom mat for your friends to match their personality!
If you hate shipping as much as I do, Alyssa offers local delivery to the Ottawa Valley. To purchase Alyssa’s doormats, head to Modish Mats’ website. Don’t forget to visit them on Instagram for shop updates!
4. Gift Boxes
If you want to get the new homeowner(s) a little bit of everything, why not get them a gift box from Light & Shine Home and Gifts? Cindy started this business in 2016 because there was a lack of feminine and pretty gifts in the Canadian market.
At first, she started with designing and printing these gorgeous mugs. However, she has now expanded to apparel and curating gift boxes. I love how Cindy partners with other Canadian small businesses for these boxes too!
As for Cindy’s creations, her supplies are also sourced through local Canadian distributors. They’re also designed and printed in her home studio. I admire Cindy’s dedication to personalization- she allows customers to choose the colours and styles they love most.
5. Handmade Cards
Want to welcome your new neighbours? A handmade greeting or congratulations card is your solution! I have many cards fit for all aesthetics. However, if you’re friends with the new homeowner(s), then you can get them a card they’ll love and pair it with any gift from this gift guide. That way, you can write a thoughtful message inside to make the gift even more special!
Handmade by me, intended for you to give, all of my cards are meant to spread joy to whoever receives them. I started Thoughtfully Handmade with a mission to help others spread positivity. Giving a handmade card is a small gesture that can bring happiness to people’s lives!
My products are unique, and I only produce 6-8 cards for each design. By purchasing something from me, you’re also donating ten cents to Toronto Environmental Alliance. They are a non-profit organization that strives to build a greener Toronto.
To purchase a card, you can click on a photo above with the design you like or visit the “Shop” page on my website. Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter, Yandy’s Chronicles, for fun behind-the-scenes content and to DM me on Instagram if you want something custom!
Buying a new house is very exciting, and a housewarming party is a perfect way to celebrate! All of these gift ideas are just that- ideas. If you weren’t inspired by any of these suggestions, I have other gift guides that might work! There is one for a Baby Shower and another for Thanksgiving Host/Hostesses. While they’re not specifically for a housewarming, it’s pretty close!
