1. Intentional Jewellery
Have a friend who’s into gems and crystals? Look no further because Tia from Love & Light Jewels (LLJ) has your back! Tia makes gemstone and crystal lifestyle products that are infused with reiki energy to amplify your energy and uplift your spirit.
LLJ started four years ago when Tia decided to make amethyst and white jade beaded bracelets as thank you gifts. She wanted the bracelets to remind the wearer to love and discover themselves every day. That was also when Tia began her spiritual journey and discovered her interest in gemstones, crystals, reiki energy, meditation and yoga.
She didn’t anticipate more and more people would buy her bracelets to spread the love- and light-infused in her bracelets, and eventually, LLJ was born! All of Tia’s jewellery is made with intention. Tia takes into account the meaning and purpose of the stones used during her creation process.
What I love most is Tia’s Chakra series, and how she has created products to support all 7 chakras in the body. So, if your friend loves the mix of crystals and style, check out Love & Light Jewels’ website for their gift. Also, don’t forget to follow Tia on her Instagram page for shop updates!
2. Handmade Accessories
If your friend is like me and loves accessories, then you’re in luck! Introducing Femme Faire, the Canadian fashion brand that strives to empower women from around the world. Andrea, the owner of Femme Faire, and her team of strong and proud mothers create handmade accessories.
Andrea only features female artisan work in her shop and donates a portion of her profit to local women’s shelters in Canada. Being a new mom, Andrea wanted to empower her daughter and show her how strong and powerful women can be. By creating Femme Faire, Andrea has done just that. She creates and curates high-quality handmade fashion for the recipient to cherish while supporting other women’s talents and skills. Slow fashion and ethical practices are Femme Faire’s core tenants.
Andrea hopes her accessories will remind us of how skilled women can be, even in developing countries. My favourite accessory that Femme Faire offers is their headband. It comes in a variety of different fabrics, patterns and styles with a comfort-fit satin base, so it’s comfortable and stylish. Andrea also uses a mix of new, upcycled and vintage fabrics because she cares about sustainability.
Get your friend a beautiful gift that they’ll love while uplifting women around the world. It’s a win-win for everyone! To shop, head to Femme Faire’s website. Don’t forget to visit their Instagram page if you have any questions!
3. Upscaled Jewellery Box
Got a friend who has a bunch of jewellery but nothing to organize them with? Then, you should definitely give them a refurbished jewellery box from Upscaled Utopia. The owner, Louise, upcycles thrifted vintage decor items and turns them into jewellery boxes.
They’re made to fit all types of jewellery, including rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Each box is unique with different components to organize jewellery in, which is what I like best about their pieces! All of Louise’s items have been refurbished to last for another generation or more. It’s a great investment piece that’s meant to be passed on!
Each box is chosen with care. Then, Louise hand-paints them using Fusion Mineral Paint, which is a high-end acrylic paint that wears beautifully. She also uses a matte polyacrylic coating on areas that are touched the most often to ensure their durability.
You can also personalize the box with the birthday celebrant’s name or initials. Upscaled Utopia also does custom work if you have a specific colour or theme in mind! If your friend loves the vintage aesthetic and fashion, a jewellery box is a perfect gift. To order, head to Upscaled Utopia’s Etsy page. If you want to contact them about a custom order, head to their Instagram page and send them a DM!
4. Handpicked Clothes
What fashion lover doesn’t love clothes? Charlé from The Curated Closet has a bunch of pieces your stylish friend will adore! They are simple, classic with a hint of bohemian. Charlé created The Curated Closet to help women find their style.
As a stay at home mom, she forgot how to dress for herself, and her closet didn’t grow with her. I can totally relate to this one because I had to wear a uniform in high school! Now, that I’m in university, I sometimes struggle with what to wear. Luckily, Charlé is passionate about helping women find items that are fashionable but versatile.
She went to school for Fashion Merchandising and Marketing, so she loves being able to use her degree to help other women while staying at home with her kids. She even has tips on her website for how to curate your closet! The Curated Closet has your entire wardrobe covered. From shirts and sweaters to jeans and dresses, you will definitely find something your friend will love and that will evolve with her. Charlé also has a sizing chart along with styling options in the item description, which is very helpful!
Additionally, all nine brands featured on The Curated Closet has been carefully selected by Charlé. These brands are unique and not something you’ll find everywhere. To help your friend continue their fashion journey, head to The Curated Closet’s website. You should also follow them on Instagram for any shop updates!
5. Handmade Birthday Card
Your friend’s birthday is coming up but you don’t know know what to get them. Wish them congratulations by sending them a thoughtfully handmade card with a personal message inside, especially since birthday parties can’t happen in person right now! You can also pair a handmade card with any gift from this gift guide. That way, you can write a thoughtful message inside to make the gift even more special!
Handmade by me, intended for you to give, all of my cards are meant to spread joy to whoever receives it. I started Thoughtfully Handmade with a mission to help others spread positivity. Giving a handmade card is a small gesture that can bring a lot of happiness to people’s lives! When you give a handmade card, the hours of hard work that I put into every single one shows. The recipient is less likely to throw it away after receiving it because a handmade card will always have more sentimental value than a mass-produced one!
My cards are unique, and I only produce 6-8 cards for each design. By purchasing something from me, you’re also donating ten cents to Toronto Environmental Alliance. They are a non-profit organization that strives to build a greener Toronto.
To purchase a card, you can click on a photo above with the design you like or visit the “Shop” page on my website! Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter, Yandy’s Chronicles for fun behind the scenes content and to visit me on Instagram if you want to connect!
Even though birthdays have to be celebrated a little differently this year, that’s not an excuse! I’m sure your friend will appreciate your gift even though you can’t see them in person because of the pandemic. I know I focused on these items as birthday gifts, but they can also be great gift ideas for any occasion!
