1. Macrame Accessories
Babies grow up so fast! Sooner or later, their teeth will come in, and they’ll need a teether. Pacifier clips are also a must-have! That’s why I love Paws N Tots’ handmade macrame baby accessories. The owner, Ashley, makes bohemian-inspired accessories that are eco-friendly and affordable. Now, I’m not a mom, but sometimes I wish I was, so I have an excuse to buy one of Ashley’s gorgeous creations!
After ten years in the environmental services field, Ashley decided to become a stay at home mom and open up Paws N Tots. Now, her favourite thing to do is creating new items for moms and their babies!
Besides teethers and pacifier clips, Ashley also makes headbands, bow hangers and much more on her Etsy shop. Her items are made from natural and/or recycled cotton cord, and untreated, natural wood to ensure there aren’t any toxic chemicals near the babies’ mouth.
This is a must-give gift to bring to a baby shower if the new mom loved the bohemian and natural aesthetic! If you’re interested, head to Paws N Tots’ Etsy page to purchase. Also, don’t forget to visit Ashley’s Instagram page for behind the scenes content!
2. Polymer Clay Earrings
While everyone is bringing a gift for the baby at the baby shower, why not give a gift specifically for the mom? In comes these unique earrings by Simply Cyra.
The creator, Cyra, makes each piece by hand using polymer clay and hypoallergenic hardware. She cuts, assembles, decorates and packages each pair of earrings by herself. All of her creations are embedded with her love of crafting, design and colour.
Pregnancy is hard work! So, remind the mom-to-be that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel once she gives birth with these colourful earrings. Since all of Cyra’s earrings are made from polymer clay, they are very lightweight, sturdy and long-lasting if handled with care.
Because each piece is made by hand, it’s hard to duplicate. So, head to Simply Cyra’s website now to claim the pair you want to give! You also should visit Cyra’s Instagram page for new design alerts!
3. Baby Clothes
Linco and Edmond started to make kids jinbeis to help their son maintain their Japanese culture in Canada. Jinbei is a type of traditional Japanese clothing worn by adults, children and babies in the summer, and typically has a matching top and shorts.
However, you don’t need to be Japanese to dress your baby in these adorable jinbeis from Imarinuico! All of the fabrics are from Japan. With many cute prints to choose from, you can’t go wrong!
Many of the matching sets and rompers are made with double gauze cotton that’s very soft. That way, the baby’s sensitive skin won’t be irritated! Besides jinbeis, Linco and Edmond also make these unique haori denim jackets. Whichever outfit you choose to give, your friend’s baby will be the most stylish out there!
4. Paper Flower Wreaths
If the mom-to-be love pink, flowers and whimsical decor, Ashley S. from Kiss My Ashley has got you covered!
Ashley makes these beautifully handcrafted paper and vinyl flower wreaths and wall decals. It’s perfect for decorating a nursery!
Ashley is passionate about her craft, and every item is made with the utmost care and precision. All of her pieces are customizable with the name or first initial of the baby!
5. Handmade Cards
Your friend just announced that she’s pregnant! Why not show them that you’re thinking about her? Wish them congratulations by sending them a thoughtfully handmade card with a personal message inside, especially since baby showers can’t happen in person right now! You can also pair a handmade card with any gift that you get, so you can write a thoughtful message inside to make the gift even more special!
Handmade by me, intended for you to give, all of my cards are meant to spread joy to whoever receives it. I started Thoughtfully Handmade with a mission to help others spread positivity. Giving a handmade card is a small gesture that can bring a lot of happiness to people’s lives!
When you give a handmade card, the hours of hard work that I put into every single one shows. The recipient is less likely to throw it away after receiving it because a handmade card will always have more sentimental value than a mass-produced one! My cards are unique since no two are identical, and I only produce 6-8 cards for each design.
By purchasing something from me, you’re also donating ten cents to Toronto Environmental Alliance. They are a non-profit organization that strives to build a greener Toronto. To purchase a card, you can click on a photo with the design you like or visit the “Shop” page on my website! Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter, Yandy’s Chronicles for fun behind the scenes content and to visit me on Instagram if you want to connect!
Even though baby showers can’t happen in person, you can still congratulate the mom-to-be with a thoughtful present! Hopefully, this pandemic will pass soon. But for now, every little action means more than before.
